The President of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, Dr. Jalal bin Mohammed Al Owaisi, welcomed the Director-General of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Mr. Pierre Krähenbühl, and his accompanying delegation at the Authoritys headquarters in Riyadh. The meeting aimed to strengthen humanitarian cooperation and exchange expertise between the two sides.
The visit focused on discussing shared humanitarian priorities and unifying efforts to address growing challenges in humanitarian work. It also aimed to enhance coordination to ensure a more effective response to crises and disasters.
During the meeting, both parties explored ways to expand joint cooperation, with an emphasis on promoting awareness of international humanitarian law and its principles, which play a crucial role in protecting human rights during conflicts. They also discussed improving humanitarian response mechanisms in line with international standards.
Dr. Al Owaisi reaffirmed Saudi Arabias commitment to supporting humanitarian efforts and strengthening partnerships with regional and international organizations to improve crisis response and deliver aid at the highest standards.
For his part, Mr. Krähenbühl praised the Kingdoms leading role in supporting humanitarian work and valued the ongoing cooperation between the Saudi Red Crescent Authority and the ICRC. He also expressed his eagerness to further enhance collaboration to advance humanitarian efforts.
