The Standing Committee of International Humanitarian Law, chaired by Dr. Jalal Al Owaisi, Chairman of the Committee and President of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, held its meeting in Riyadh with the presence of committee members from military and civilian entities.
The meeting discussed the report on the Executive Committee’s activities and the performance of subcommittees during the second quarter of 2024.
The committee aims to achieve several goals in the upcoming period, including reinforcing that the culture of international humanitarian law is intrinsic to Saudi Arabian society, whether from the perspective of Islamic culture or the social nature of peace or war, as reflected in the committee’s motto.
The committee also aims to emphasize Saudi Arabia’s contribution to enriching the culture of international humanitarian law and developing practical practices at both civilian and military levels.
Additionally, the committee seeks to share the Saudi experience with the world, which is distinguished by its legal, historical, cultural, and practical aspects, adding to international humanitarian law and highlighting that Islamic Sharia is one of the primary sources of international humanitarian law.
