As part of its efforts to enhance environmental awareness and the role of civil society in sustainable development, the Saudi Red Crescent Authority in the Eastern Region, in cooperation with the Friends of the Environment Association, organized an awareness lecture titled “The Role of Civil Society in Environmental Awareness,” delivered by Dr. Talal bin Sultan Al-Rasheed, Chairman of the Board.
The lecture was held at the administration building of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority in the city of Khobar on Tuesday, 27 August 2024, at 7:00 PM.
The lecture aimed to develop concepts related to addressing environmental and social development issues and targeted around 50 volunteers from various segments of society to enhance their environmental awareness and active role in protecting the environment.
The lecture focused on several key themes, including the importance of environmental awareness in society, the role of volunteering in promoting this awareness, and the role of civil society in spreading a culture of environmental conservation and addressing the environmental challenges facing the community. Best practices that can be adopted to achieve sustainable social development were also discussed.
This initiative is part of a series of events organized by the Authority in collaboration with various concerned parties to promote social responsibility, raise environmental awareness in the community, and strengthen the role of civil society in addressing environmental challenges.
