The Saudi Red Crescent Authority in Makkah region has heightened its maximum readiness in response to warnings from the National Center of Meteorology regarding the current rainfall in the area.
Dr. Mustafa bin Jameel Baljoun, Director of the Saudi Red Crescent branch in Makkah, confirmed the full readiness of the command and control center, all EMS centers, specialized response teams, and volunteer EMS teams. This preparedness aligns with the heavy rainfall in the region, ensuring that EMS services have not been impacted, thanks to God.
Baljoun highlighted that the authority has raised the readiness level across 98 centers in the Makkah region, with 1,420 healthcare providers, including doctors, specialists, and emergency medical technicians, ready for deployment. Additionally, approximately 149 vehicles have been prepared, including fully equipped ambulances, disaster and crisis response vehicles, and support from the air ambulance, which complements ground emergency services with the latest medical and technical equipment.
The Saudi Red Crescent Authority urged all citizens and residents to follow the instructions issued by the relevant authorities, exercise caution during weather changes, and adhere to traffic safety rules to avoid accidents, especially during heavy rain. Drivers are advised to be extra cautious on highways, avoid dangerous areas like flood paths and water collection points, refrain from gathering around accidents, and make way for emergency teams to provide medical services to those in need.
It is worth mentioning that the authority receives emergency service calls via the number "997" and the "Asefni" app, available 24/7 for any urgent situations.
