Saudi Red Crescent Authority in the Eastern Region, in collaboration with the Education Department, launched a comprehensive awareness initiative in celebration of World First Aid Day. The initiative aims to educate educational staff and students in the Eastern Region about the importance of first aid, reaching all provinces and cities.
The awareness program, broadcast live from the Red Crescent Training Center, involved ten educational offices and over 536 schools for both boys and girls under the theme "First Aid and Sports." The lectures covered topics such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) for cardiac arrest cases, the use of automatic defibrillators, and how to request emergency services via the number 997 or the "Asefni" app. The initiative targeted approximately 7,853 educational staff and 40,442 students.
The lectures also included explanations of common sports injuries, such as fainting, tongue swallowing, fractures, bruises, muscle tears, and head and chest injuries, along with detailed first aid procedures for each case until specialized emergency teams arrive.
This initiative, implemented for the first time at such a scale among government entities, is part of the longstanding community partnership between the Saudi Red Crescent Authority and the Education Department in the Eastern Region. It aims to enhance health risk prevention, road safety, and reduce human losses and severe injuries, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030 for the healthcare sector.
The Saudi Red Crescent Authority continues its efforts to promote awareness and foster a culture of first aid, emphasizing that every individual in the community can save a life with a simple human touch.
