In Record Time, SRCA Teams at Mecca's Grand Mosque Revive Pakistani Pilgrim
25/Oct/2024

The EMS teams of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority in Makkah have successfully saved the life of a Pakistani pilgrim who lost consciousness and suffered cardiac arrest, achieving a record response time of just one minute.

The Authority reported that the Command and Control Center received an emergency call at 11:19 AM on Friday, indicating an unconscious pilgrim in the King Fahd corridor designated for men in the Holy Mosque of Makkah. Emergency teams were promptly dispatched to the location, where they found the pilgrim, a man in his fifties, unresponsive and not breathing.

The teams administered emergency aid following standard protocol for such cases, using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) available at the site under the "Whoever Saves a Life" initiative. They continued CPR with a LUCAS device until the pilgrim’s heartbeat was restored. He was then transported to a medical facility for further care and monitoring.
