The President of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), Mrs. Mirjana Spoljaric Egger, concluded her visit to Saudi Arabia, which took place on November 3 and 4, 2024. During the visit, she held numerous consultative and introductory meetings, discussing ways to strengthen cooperation between Saudi Arabia and the ICRC to support communities in need and deliver humanitarian relief in the world’s most affected regions.
Mrs. Egger began her official visit by meeting with the Saudi Red Crescent Authority, where she met with the Minister of Health and Chairman of the Board, Fahd bin Abdulrahman Al Jalajel, as well as the Authority’s President, Dr. Jalal bin Mohammed Al Owaisi. She also met with Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, General Supervisor of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, expressing her gratitude for the center's contributions to alleviating suffering. They discussed potential areas for cooperation to improve services and enhance relief operations.
During the visit, Mrs. Egger was also received by Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah at the Ministry’s headquarters in Riyadh. The meeting explored avenues for joint cooperation in humanitarian relief, along with discussions on regional and international developments and humanitarian efforts in response.
This visit is part of ongoing international outreach efforts aligned with the goals of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority. It reflects Saudi Arabia’s deep-rooted humanitarian values and vision for a safer, more stable future while fulfilling its mission to support humanitarian work regionally and globally.
