Emergency teams from the Saudi Red Crescent Authority in the Madinah region responded to a critical medical case as part of the “Heart Attack Pathway”, an initiative designed to save lives by minimizing the time required to deliver urgent medical care.
Dr. Ahmad bin Ali Al-Zahrani, Director of the Authority’s branch in Madinah, stated that the Medical Dispatch Center received a report via the emergency number 997 regarding a man in his fifties experiencing severe chest pain while praying in the Quba Mosque prayer halls. An Advanced Life Support (ALS) team was immediately dispatched to the location.
Upon arrival, the team conducted a full medical assessment, including an ECG, which showed signs suggestive of a severe heart attack. The data was promptly transmitted via smart devices to the on-call physician at the Red Crescent’s medical guidance unit, where the diagnosis was confirmed. The team was instructed to activate the Heart Attack Pathway and transport the patient directly to the cardiac catheterization lab at Al-Hayat National Hospital via a dedicated route.
The medical team was on standby at the catheterization unit and performed immediate intervention, successfully stabilizing the patient and saving his life.
Dr. Al-Zahrani emphasized that rapid response and effective coordination are key factors in reducing complications and achieving positive outcomes—by the grace of God.
