The Saudi Red Crescent Authority in the Madinah region announced on Saturday its operational statistics since the beginning of Ramadan 1446 AH, revealing that the number of incoming calls reached 26,385, resulting in 8,411 emergency reports that were responded to by emergency teams.
Out of these cases, 2,177 patients were treated on-site, while 2,489 patients were transported—after receiving emergency medical care—to various medical facilities.
Dr. Ahmad bin Ali Al-Zahrani, Director General of the Red Crescent’s branch in Madinah, stated that the emergency cases ranged from medical emergencies, followed by accidents, and then cases of unconsciousness. All were handled efficiently by specialized medical teams using ambulances equipped with the latest life-saving technology to provide comprehensive emergency services.
Dr. Al-Zahrani also noted that during the second quarter of the holy month, a total of 4,551 male and female volunteers participated in providing first aid services at the Prophet’s Mosque and Quba Mosque, with a total of 26,481 volunteer hours recorded.
He emphasized that emergency service requests are received through the 997 emergency number or the "Asefni" mobile app, which allows users to create an emergency report via mobile, request an ambulance team, send a distress signal, track the report’s status and route, help emergency teams identify the caller’s location, locate nearby healthcare facilities, access emergency numbers and contact relief agencies.
