The Saudi Red Crescent Authority in the Makkah Region has elevated its state of alert to the highest level following warnings from the National Center for Meteorology about expected heavy rainfall. All resources in the region have been mobilized in response.
The Authority confirmed the full readiness of the command and control center, all ambulance centers in the region, specialized response teams, and volunteer emergency teams across the affected governorates. A total of 99 centers in the Makkah Region have been placed on high alert with medical staff including doctors, specialists, and emergency medical technicians.
The Authority stated that approximately 165 support vehicles have been deployed, including fully equipped ambulances, disaster and crisis response units such as Shawafat, Sanad, Hadaj, Tuwaik bus, and Uhud bus. Air ambulance services are also available to support ground emergency teams with the latest medical and technical equipment.
The Saudi Red Crescent Authority urged all citizens and residents to follow instructions issued by the relevant authorities and to exercise caution during weather fluctuations. The public is advised to adhere to traffic safety guidelines to avoid accidents—especially during heavy rain—and to drive carefully on highways, avoid dangerous areas such as flood channels and rainwater pools, refrain from gathering around accident scenes, and allow emergency teams to perform their duties without obstruction.
It is noteworthy that the Authority receives emergency service requests around the clock via the number “997” and the "Asafny" app in case of any emergencies, God forbid.
