In line with the directives of the wise leadership, SRCA inaugurated two dedicated air ambulance helipads inside the Grand Mosque in Makkah, marking a historic milestone in strengthening emergency healthcare infrastructure. This initiative aims to facilitate rapid medical evacuation for critical cases, reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to enhancing healthcare efficiency and providing high-quality medical care, particularly with the annual increase in the number of pilgrims and preparations for Hajj season.
These new helipads will significantly improve emergency medical transport to referral hospitals in Makkah and Jeddah, ensuring faster response times and timely treatment.
As part of the preparations, SRCA successfully conducted a test landing of an air ambulance at the eastern helipad of the Grand Mosque to assess the efficiency and readiness of medical teams in executing emergency evacuations according to the highest international standards.
In parallel with the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to enhance emergency response capabilities, the Grand Mosque Emergency Hospital was also inaugurated yesterday. This facility is designed to provide immediate emergency care during Umrah and Hajj seasons, ensuring seamless access to medical services for pilgrims. The hospital operates 24/7, utilizing the latest medical technologies and staffed by highly qualified healthcare professionals.
The Grand Mosque Emergency Hospital is equipped with state-of-the-art medical facilities, including an intensive care unit, medical laboratories, radiology services, and an in-house pharmacy.
It also features dedicated areas for critical emergency cases, respiratory emergencies, observation units, and an isolation unit for infectious diseases.
Located on the northern side of the Grand Mosque, opposite King Abdullah Gate, the hospital is part of the mosque’s third expansion project. Along with the air ambulance helipads, it represents a major enhancement in emergency response capabilities, ensuring optimal medical care for the safety and well-being of all pilgrims.
