Coinciding with World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, the Saudi Red Crescent Authority signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the International Committee of the Red Cross, marking a strategic step aimed at enhancing humanitarian response both within the Kingdom and internationally, and reinforcing the principles of humanitarian action during times of conflict and emergency.
This MoU reflects a shared commitment to deepening and expanding their longstanding cooperation, grounded in the core values and principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement—most notably: humanity, neutrality, and independence.
The agreement sets a clear framework for implementing a wide range of joint programs and initiatives, including: first aid and emergency care, restoring family links, dissemination of international humanitarian law (IHL), and coordinated humanitarian efforts at national and global levels.
This partnership also underscores the shared dedication to upholding human dignity and protecting lives under the most challenging circumstances. It lays the foundation for a long-term institutional relationship committed to launching impactful humanitarian initiatives aligned with the highest standards of transparency, efficiency, and accountability.
A joint steering committee will oversee the implementation of the partnership’s programs and explore avenues for continuous development, ensuring the integration of efforts and timely response to humanitarian needs.
This MoU embodies a shared vision that positions humanitarian action as a symbol of global solidarity and a reflection of noble values.
