Emergency Medical Dispatch in SRCA is considered the first step for the ambulance service to be provided by the Authority represented by ambulatory land service teams and air ambulance to serve pilgrims along with 151 qualified and expert dispatchers, operators and doctors.
The head of EMD team in the holy capital city, Abdulaziz Al- Marwan stated that 11 coordinators from the Authority were allocated to deal with other authorities concerned (Civil Affairs – Public Security and the Unified Security Operations Center (911) to facilitate tasks of ambulatory teams with other sectors and to cooperate in transportations to reduce time and effort in transferring patients to closest medical service provider; SRCA also developed the technology used in Operation Center to achieve highest rates of response to emergency cases.
Al- Marwan also added that emergency case report goes through two stages: administrative stage that will collect data of caller information, precisely get location and pass the report to the other medical stage that will obtain information on the nature of the case, number of casualties and medical history for the report to be dispatched via EMD teams in order to direct ready ambulatory teams to reach the location at the best route to deliver ambulatory services. SRCA has dedicated staff to follow up with the report to coordinate with ambulatory teams and the victims where medical staff will take responsibility on providing directions to the ambulatory team till they reach the nearest health institution.
He continued that twinning work of Hajj EMD and air ambulance operations in mutual operation center will enable reaching location and following up the medical status of the victim in medical centers; as sectors supervisors in Mina and Muzdalifah and Arafat sacred areas are authorized to request air ambulance for emergency cases.
SRCA is providing every capability of manpower and ambulatory fleets to serve pilgrims while performing Hajj rituals in order to grant safety for them until the end of the Hajj season and leaving to their home countries.
