SRCA Emergency Medical Dispatch team in the city of Mecca, represents the first line of emergency services provided by the Authority through its ground and air teams to serve the guests of Allah. The Authority has allocated 238 EMDs and operators, as well as medical doctors with scientific and practical qualifications.
Talal Al-Harbi, Emergency Medical Dispatch team leader in Hajj season 1444 H, stated that approximately 18 coordinators from the Authority's staff were distributed within relevant authorities (Civil Defense, Public Security, and 911 center) in order to facilitate the tasks of emergency teams with other sectors and to cooperate in order to quickly reach the injured and facilitate crossing procedures to contribute saving time and effort in transporting patients to the nearest medical institution that provides complete medical services. The Authority has also developed the technical aspect of the medical dispatch center to achieve the highest response time working in 3 shifts around the clock.
Al-Harbi explained that the emergency call passes through two stages: the first administrative stage to document the caller's information and determine the location accurately, then the call is transferred to the medical stage to identify the type of case, the number of injuries, and the medical history. The call is then transferred through the operations program to the ambulance centers to send the nearest team to the injured site, and emergency team followers monitor the injured person's location through the fastest possible routes to provide emergency aid to the pilgrims of the Holy House of Allah. Employees are assigned to follow up on the call to coordinate between emergency teams and patients, and medical transport is responsible for providing emergency instructions to emergency teams until the patient arrives at the health facility.
Al-Harbi added that the coordination between medical dispatch center and air ambulance operations in a joint room facilitates the speed of reaching the injured and monitoring their health status in medical centers. The domain supervisors in Mina, Muzdalifah, Arafat, and the holy capital city of Makkah have the authority to request air ambulance for emergency cases.
The Saudi Red Crescent Authority dedicates all of its human and mechanical capabilities and potentials to serve the guests of Allah to provide them with comfort during their rituals. Due to the responsibilities in providing emergency medical services in the Kingdom and being one of the most prominent government agencies participating in the annual Hajj season, it has worked tirelessly to provide emergency services, distinguish the quality of service, and communicate with relevant authorities to contribute to the safety of the pilgrims from their arrival to the homeland and until they return safely after completing their pilgrimage.
