Over 29,000 ambulance cases have been handled by SRCA teams in the Makkah region since the beginning of the month of Ramadan
31/Mar/2024

The Saudi Red Crescent Authority in Makkah region revealed the statistics of ambulance cases handled since the beginning of the month of Ramadan until the 19th of Ramadan in the year 1445 H, reaching a total of more than 29,427 cases.

It was explained that the cases handled varied between medical cases, which constituted the highest percentage, in addition to accident cases. The ambulance teams dealt with these cases efficiently through specialized human cadres and vehicles equipped with the latest equipment necessary to provide comprehensive ambulance services. Makkah topped the list with 21,444 cases, followed by Jeddah with 5,426 cases, and Taif in third place with 2,557 cases.

The Saudi Red Crescent Authority possesses an ambulance fleet equipped with the latest ambulance technologies, consisting of several buses and fully equipped vehicles to deal with various emergency cases. In addition to ambulances, it includes off-road vehicles, golf carts, motorcycles, scooters, and bicycles.

The authority has raised its preparations for the last ten days in the Holy Mosque to serve the guests of the Merciful One and to employ all material and human resources to achieve optimal ambulance response through its emergency medical and ambulance services, covering the Two Holy Mosques and the surrounding areas. This includes increasing the number of ambulance teams and vehicles at some locations required during the last ten days of Ramadan, which are determined in coordination with relevant authorities.

The Saudi Red Crescent Authority receives requests for ambulance service through the number 997 or through the "Asefni" application, which allows users to create a report via mobile phone, call for an ambulance team, request assistance by sending a distress call, check the status of the report, and track its progress. The application also enables ambulance teams to locate the reporter, provides information about nearby health facilities, emergency numbers, and other relief agencies.
