The preparatory meeting held this Wednesday morning for the 18th meeting of the committee of heads of red crescent authorities and societies scheduled to be held on Thursday at the headquarter of the Secretariat-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council in Riyadh attended by leaderships of Red Crescent and senior officials.
The preparatory meeting opening speech delivered by His Highness executive director of SRCA international cooperation and humanitarian relief, prince Abdullah bin Faisal Al Saud; his highness highlighted the deep appreciation of the Kingdom to genuine efforts in the continuity of cooperation and follow up of issues in relation to humanitarian and relief works between GCC Countries. His Highness also expressed his gratitude to staff working in GCC Red Crescent Authorities and Societies for the notable contribution on regional and international level in humanitarian works.
He also added that the Authority is stressing on the importance of unit positions in the international attendance in humanitarian and relief works as challenges encountered in the region require promoting relationships, cooperation and partnership as well raising level of coordination in every sector between GCC authorities and societies and execution of mutual plans in accordance to timeline programs.
It is expected for the 18th meeting of the Committee of GCC heads of Red Crescent Authorities and Societies to discuss number of issues and vital matters and on top of them efforts of GCC countries in fighting against coronavirus in addition to a study on volunteering work award and a forum for GCC Red Crescent Authorities and Societies as well GCC Red Crescent Day.
The meeting also discussed an opportunity of holding a GCC specialized workshop for preparing media cadres in the field of humanitarian and relief works as well a memorandum of understanding between GCC Secretariat-General and Arab Red Crescent and Red Cross Organization in addition to a discussing on coordinating and unify positions in regional and international organizations.
