The Saudi Red Crescent Authority stated that over 25 million USD spent during the last years over food and agricultural security projects equivalent to over 36% of the total financial aids provided by the Authority in various sectors that exceeded 68 million USD.
SRCA Spokesman, Abdulaziz Al Suwaine, for the international food day, stated that the Authority established 4 mega projects related to food security which represented 12.5% of the relief and humanitarian projects delivered by the Authority in several most in-need countries. As a result, those projects became second after healthcare projects.
He added that the size of aid provided by the Authority in the field of food and agricultural security as well as the number of projects executed in this field reveals the level of high keenness of the Authority to effectively contribute to the international plans to secure efficiently healthy food for the entire world and to fight poverty. These efforts came in accordance with the directives of the wise leadership directives that strive to demonstrate the Kingdom's pioneering role in the international arena in several fields.
Al Suwaine also indicated the Authority's aids related to food and agricultural security were distributed to many countries in the world, especially in Asia and Africa, to emphasize the Kingdom's concentration on supporting countries who encountered disasters or crisis as well as communities that suffer deficiency in food or water supply.
Worth to mention that the World Food Day is celebrated every year at 16th October by Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and various countries and international organization participate at in addition to World Food Program to reinforce global awareness for those who suffer from hunger and encourage people to act against starvation.
