The Saudi Red Crescent Authority in Makkah region has raised its preparedness to the highest level following alerts issued by the National Center for Meteorology regarding expected heavy rainfall in the region. All resources have been mobilized, and readiness has been intensified across all operational units.
The Authority stated that it has activated its readiness plans across all emergency sectors and increased the alert level at the Command, Control, and Medical Dispatch Center to monitor the weather situation in real time. This enables the rapid deployment of field teams in accordance with the highest operational standards to ensure swift response to affected locations.
The SRCA further emphasized that it has strengthened the presence of ambulance teams by positioning them strategically in key support locations within the most affected governorates. These include areas near valleys, major highways, high-traffic zones, and rugged terrains to ensure optimal rapid intervention during adverse weather conditions.
The Authority noted that Makkah region includes 19 emergency sectors supported by 98 EMS centers operating around the clock. These consist of 24 centers in Taif within four sectors, 36 centers in Jeddah within seven sectors, and 38 centers in the Holy Capital within eight sectors, in addition to field support and staging points covering areas impacted by the rainfall according to operational plans.
The Saudi Red Crescent Authority called on all citizens and residents to follow official instructions and weather warnings, avoid valleys and water accumulations, cooperate with EMS teams by clearing the way, and refrain from crowding at incident sites. The Authority also urged the public to request emergency medical services through the 997 hotline or via the Asefni App, which provides accurate location tracking to facilitate rapid team dispatch.
