The Saudi Red Crescent Authority’s Jeddah branch launched a series of awareness and training programs to mark World First Aid Day, observed annually on the second Saturday of September. The initiatives aimed to engage the community through a diverse package of activities and events.
The programs included awareness booths at several public locations frequented by visitors, where information was provided about the importance of first aid and the significance of this international day. Educational giveaways were also distributed to beneficiaries.
In addition, the Authority implemented the “Learn a Skill” initiative through its volunteers, offering members of the public hands-on training in basic first aid techniques that can help save lives. Participants were guided to ensure they mastered the skills correctly through practical teaching tools. The initiative also featured the “Rescue in a Minute Challenge,” designed to enhance participants’ readiness to respond quickly to emergency situations.
Complementing these efforts, the Community Training and Awareness Center in Jeddah organized intensive week-long training courses for those interested in first aid, delivered via the “Mutaaheb” online platform. The center also conducted awareness lectures in government sectors, schools, and universities to emphasize the importance of learning and spreading first aid skills within the community.
