Saudi Red Crescent in Makkah Region Raises Field Readiness for Weather Conditions and Enhances Deployment in Support Locations

The Saudi Red Crescent Authority in Makkah region has elevated its state of maximum readiness in response to alerts issued by the National Center for Meteorology regarding heavy rainfall expected in the area. All preparedness measures have been heightened, and resources across the region have been fully mobilized.

The Authority explained that it has activated readiness plans across all emergency sectors and enhanced the preparedness of the Command and Control Center and Medical Dispatch Center to monitor the weather situation in real time, ensuring optimal field team deployment and rapid response to affected locations.

The SRCA also confirmed that it has strengthened the deployment of ambulance teams through strategic positioning in key support sites within the most affected governorates, including areas near valleys, major highways, high-traffic zones, and rugged locations, ensuring effective rapid intervention during adverse weather conditions.

The Authority stated that the Makkah region includes 19 ambulance sectors supported by 98 ambulance centers operating around the clock — including 24 centers in Taif across four sectors, 36 centers in Jeddah across seven sectors, and 38 centers in the Holy Capital across eight sectors in addition to field support and standby points covering governorates affected by the weather, in line with operational plans.

The Saudi Red Crescent Authority urged citizens and residents to follow instructions and warnings issued by relevant authorities, avoid valleys and water accumulations, cooperate with ambulance teams by giving way, and refrain from crowding accident sites. The Authority also encouraged requesting emergency services via the number 997 or through the Asefni app to ensure accurate location identification and faster team response.
