The Director General of the Saudi Red Crescent Authority (SRCA) branch in Al Qassim region, Mr. Khalid bin Saleh Al-Khudhur, met with Professor Sultan Al-Nuhair, Director of Al-Qassim National Hospital, accompanied by the Assistant Director General for Emergency Medical Operations and a number of department leaders.
The meeting marked the activation of the Critical Injuries Pathway and the role of response partners, with the aim of leveraging the hospital’s medical teams in responding to emergency ambulance calls.
The Critical Injuries Pathway is a pre-hospital coordination mechanism designed to prepare specialized in-hospital teams for receiving and managing severe trauma cases, ensuring timely specialized care and improving patient outcomes.
As part of the initiative, a field simulation exercise was conducted in the hospital’s emergency department to test the accuracy of coordination and raise preparedness levels. The exercise included the launch of an ambulance team from within the hospital, attended by senior representatives from both sides, to activate the initiative of utilizing hospital medical teams in emergency response.
Mr. Al-Khadr emphasized that the agreement to activate the Critical Injuries Pathway and strengthen the role of response partners reflects the joint cooperation between the SRCA branch in Al Qassim and Al Qassim National Hospital. He noted that the initiative aims to enhance and develop emergency medical services and specialized care for patients and the injured, thereby contributing to improved healthcare outcomes and promoting quality of life in line with the aspirations of the Kingdom’s leadership and Vision 2030.
He further commended the significant efforts made by both teams, highlighting their professionalism and dedication in achieving this milestone, which will positively impact trauma patients and the quality of emergency medical services.
